Field Training Exercise (FTX)

Field Training Exercise (FTX) will be conducted from Friday, October 24 at 180hrs (6 pm). Cadets are to be dropped off at the hanger wearing their FTU’s (field training uniform). The cadets are to be picked up at the same location on Sunday, October 26 at 1600hrs (4 pm).

Cadets will be taught how to work and thrive in the field environment. Cadets will participate in training that will be predominantly outdoors. As such it is important that cadets bring all the items on the kit list provided. A completed and signed parental consent form will also be required to be submitted before attending this exercise. It is important that cadets be prepared to dress for cool rainy weather as they will be training outside all day Saturday and Sunday. Opportunities for cadets to charge cell phones will be limited.

Area Directed Activity (ADA) Cold Weather FTX with other Corps.

Drop off at the Alberta Aviation Museum 11410 Kingsway Ave NW Edmonton (click for google map) on Friday evening at 1800hrs (6:00 pm). Pickup on Sunday afternoon at 1600hrs (4 pm). Wear Field Training Uniform (FTU) or appropriate civilian clothing if your FTU’s haven’t been issued yet.

Winter boots must be insulated - FTU boots, running shoes, hiking boots, rubber boots are not acceptable winter boots.

-  It is important that Cadets be prepared to dress for cold weather as they will be training outside all weekend.
-  Opportunities for Cadets to charge cell phones will be limited.
-  Personal Hygiene Kit includes the following: Small hand towel, toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, deodorant (not spray), feminine hygiene products as required.
-  Wide-mouth water bottles are recommended in order to minimize impact of water freezing in spout. Also bring an additional cup for hot liquids.
- Sleeping bags and air mattress will be provided.
-  While additional cold weather gear will be issued at the training area, all personnel must be properly dressed for cold weather travel to and from the training area.  Cold weather gear issued at the training area will have to be returned prior to travel back to LHQ.

This event will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2026 from 0800hrs (8 am) to 2000 hrs (8 pm). Pick up and drop off for this trip will be at the LHQ Hanger. Lunch will be provided and bring water bottle.

Field Training Exercise (FTX)

180 RCACC will be taking part in an outdoor winter activity training activity at Lessard Lake. Cadets will be training outside for the entirety of the weekend. Capt Welter and MWO Bibby are certified Cold Weather Instructors that will be teaching the cadets how the Army functions outdoors in the winter. Our goal is for the cadets to have a good experience so they will want to continue doing adventure training in the Cadet program.

Drop off at the Alberta Aviation Museum 11410 Kingsway Ave NW Edmonton (click for google map) on Friday evening at 1730hrs (5:30 pm) with the bus leaving at 1800hrs (6 pm) SHARP. Pickup on Sunday afternoon at 1600hrs (4 pm). Participating Corps include 2836 RCACC, 2561 RCACC, 2551 RCACC and 180 RCACC. Wear Field Training Uniform (FTU) or appropriate civilian clothing if your FTU’s haven’t been issued yet.

As well as a permission form that will need to be filled out and returned to the corps before the cadets get on the bus. Kit Day Sr Cadets

Kit inspection day for senior cadets (only silver star and above) in preparation for the ADA Fundamental Weekend (FTX) to be held the following weekend. Senior cadets are to show up at the Brig. James Curry Jefferson Armoury (click here for google map) located at 11630 109 St NW, Edmonton, AB T5G 3H6. Training will be conducted from 0900hrs (9 am) to 1600hrs (4 pm). Lunch will be provided and will be a Subway sandwich, a cookie and a bottle of water. FTU’s will be the dress for the day and bring a water bottle.
